Neuzelle Monastery was founded in the 13th century as an abbey by the House of Wettin and existed until 1817. The Cistercian abbey was subsequently secularized. The convent was rebuilt in 2018 and now belongs to the Austrian Heiligenkreuz Abbey. The monastery is not only the landmark of Neuzelle, but also dominates the entire town with its splendor. The lavish Baroque decoration in the monastery church is remarkable, and the garden is also beautifully landscaped.

The monastery is worth a visit. The landmark of Neuzelle is not unknown for a reason. Both the monastery garden, the monastery church and the attached monastery brewery are only recommended for a visit.

From the Oder-Neisse Cycle Route made a detour to Neuzelle and also stayed there, because there is just too much to admire. And the café in the wonderful ambience of the monastery garden is highly recommended!
