Location: Mörnsheim, Landkreis Eichstätt, Altmühltal, Upper Bavaria, Bavaria, Germany
Side valley of the Altmühltal with the river Gailach, which flows in Altendorf into the Altmühl. The romantic Gailachtal is in no way inferior to the Altmühltal. Places on the Gailach on their constant run below the Gailachquelle are Mühlheim, Mörnsheim and Altendorf.
The Gailachtal, which is lined by species-rich dry grasslands, is considered to be scenically attractive; the Gailach winds meandering through the meadows. Because of their near-natural state, the dipper, which has rarely become common in Bavaria, can swim, dive and run along the stream bottom. Shortly before its mouth lies on the northern side of the valley, the "Grafsloch", a rock formation with a 70,000 years ago man-made cave. After the stalactite approaches on her ceiling she is also called "Steinerner Rosenkranz". North of the Gailach estuary lies over the rocky outcrops of the Altmühltal the extensive "juniper garden" with man-high juniper bushes.
In Mörnsheim the Altmühltal Panoramaweg crosses the valley. Before you get past the castle Mörnsheim.

The Gailachtal begins in Kreut, near Monheim in Swabia, from there the Gailach winds its way to Altendort and flows into the Altmühl there. Some of them even travel underground during dry times
