The chapel in this area was mentioned in 1223 in connection with the Moselort castles. In 1342, the name St. Paul was first mentioned. It is built in early Romanesque and late Gothic style. [1] The choir walls date back to the 12th century, the vault from the 14th century or 15th century. The cloister was built in the second half of the 17th century. In 1698, the chapel was completely renovated, and a courtyard house was added to the west side. In 1763 it was renovated again. In 1834 it was badly damaged and fell into ruin. In 1882 the Burgener parish priest Franz Xaver Fischer bought the ruin and rebuilt it. The courtyard house was demolished. In 1883 St. Paul was re-consecrated. A burger civic association restored the chapel last time in 1970.
