Architectural studies have shown that this church is much older than indicated in the usual reference books. At the church you can see 3 larger construction phases: Originally there was a small chapel made of brick at this place. The masonry stones and the glazed bricks are probably of the same type as those used in Anklam to build St. Mary's Church. If this time is used as the construction period, this church was built in the early 14th century.

Mountain biking

The Late Gothic tiled hall with a three-sided eastern end, buttresses and a glazed plinth profile was probably built in the 15th century. In the 16th century, a sloping, timbered western tower with a tall pointed spire was added, which, according to research, is about 80 years older than the comparable tower (first mentioned in 1667) of the Japenzin church. The church building was rebuilt in the baroque style and plastered. The tower was renovated in the 1990s and was covered with wooden shingles.
