Adalbert Stifter Monument

In 1906 the monument was erected on the Gutwasserberg. At that time there was still a good vision of the park on the Bohemian Forest, his homeland, now the stone donor is almost hidden among the mighty, tall trees.Born in Horni Plana (Oberplan), the great poet is portrayed here as a hiker with a book and the rag hat and looks over the land. On the bronze plaque you will find a few lines from Stifter's "Hochwald":
"Then rest the broad ridges of the forest, and descend, dimly dawning, against the silver-gaze of the Vltava. There is a great deal of love and melancholy dwelling in this sight."
