Wietzes highest elevation originated from the overburden of the Wietzer oil well.About one million cubic meters of washed oil sands and neighboring rocks were deposited from 1930 to 1963 on the former dump.

From up here, you have a great wide view of the surrounding area. After a steep ascent, you can relax and rest under the shelter or on the benches. An information board at the foot of the mountain provides information about the origin.

Short steep climb on foot but worth it. Hard to believe, but the view here is really beautiful. I would rather not go up here with my bike.
