The coal washery of the former Maximilian colliery in Hammer Maximilianpark was redesigned by an artist so that today it looks like a giant elephant. This led to the fact that today the elephant is the symbol of the city of Hamm in Westphalia.
A copy was therefore set up at the entrance to Selbachpark, a leisure area in the city of Hamm.
