    Definitely not for everyone but if you like gravel the first part of Route 2 of this highlight is great. Doable on roadbike with 25mm. Parts are paved, especially descent/ascending parts. Also see one of the ear radars used in Second World war.

      Thanks for the tip, a perfect scenic finale after a hard ride and immediately following some punishing climbs above folkestone - I have ridden a lot of gravel and this is not - I would call this paved with maybe a few loose stones - I approached it from the folkestone direction (27 kg including 4 panniers - fully loaded steel Genesis croix de fer 38mm tyres) but I think any bike any tyre could do this - from west to east it is mostly downhill and a welcome reprise, but hill loving roadies would love it in either direction.
