Blokzijl (Lower Saxon: Blokziel) is a place in the Kop van Overijssel. Blokzijl is located between Emmeloord and Steenwijk. The place owes its name to a reinforced lock, the Blokzijl (zijl = lock). There is an old cannon on the quay, where tourists like to photograph each other. In the heart of the town, near the lock, you will find the star restaurant Kaatje at the lock.
