    Formerly Hotel Hohe Sonne.
The hotel was built in 1899, the successor of a baroque hunting lodge built in the middle of the 18th century. The hotel was changed several times, until it was closed in 1985 and now slowly decaying.
In 2014, it was listed by the Thuringian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments as one of sixteen endangered castles in Thuringia and the building was to be secured. Nothing has changed to this day.
In order to ensure the supply for hikers, cyclists or visitors, stand for more than 30 years provisionally erected log cabins and tents on the high sun.

Former inn and guesthouse, should be expanded again soon. Serves as a good starting point for hikes on and on the Rennsteig. Can also be easily reached by car and bus to start activities here.

The Hohe Sonne as a waypoint directly at the Rennsteig, end point of the Dragon Gorge and waypoint over to the fraternity monument. Good sausage stand and parking lot. Easily accessible on foot or by bike, car and bus.

From here the slope of the route is moderate. You can drive on the Rennsteig in the right direction towards Inselsberg or you can turn around and drive back towards Hörschel to the Werra. Then it's mainly downhill. More beautiful MTB and bike tours, but also hikes are possible from here. For example fraternity memorial, Drachenstein, Drachenschlucht, Landgrafenschlucht, Mosbacher Linde
