The Bürglentor with the adjacent remains of the city wall with battlement forms a well-preserved and interesting part of the old city fortifications. Climbing the tower is also worthwhile because the tower offers fantastic views of the old town of Freiburg on the bend of the Saane. There are also views of the Poya Bridge in the background and the nearby Zähringer Bridge. Finally, you can look down on the Lorette Chapel near the gate.
