The chapel, located in a Merovingian town center, was first mentioned in 1342. The current building is a late Gothic hall church expanded in 1720 in baroque forms. The chapel was formerly the destination of pilgrimages to St. Valentin, the emergency helper of those suffering from the "falling illness". The benches on the gallery come from the chapel of the Birkerhof, an estate of the Eberbach Abbey on the southwestern edge of the Ober-Olmer Forest, which was dissolved in the secularization and then broken off.
About 100 meters west of the chapel is the so-called Kappelkreuz, a field cross built in 1617.
