The castle stands in the middle of a well-kept park, the ponds of which are heavily frequented by bathing enthusiasts in midsummer. The beautiful castle was built in 1773 on behalf of Count Ferdinand von Harrach, which he named in close reference to the nicknames of his wife and daughter Rosenhof. Rosa von Harrach was the sole heir to her father's rich estate; she married Prince Josef Kinsky in 1777. It was Rosa von Kinsky who gave the palace its current appearance between 1780 and 1792. Rosenhof Castle, to which a considerable forest property still belongs to this day and has its own forestry and sawmill, is owned by the Kinsky family.
