Bike Touring Highlight
The road which passes at the bottom of La roque Saint Christophe and which runs along the Vézère is really pleasant. We are in the "valley of man" which owes its name to its concentration of Paleolithic sites.

These natural cavities were already inhabited by humans in prehistory. In the Middle Ages they were converted into a fortress and finally destroyed and forgotten during the religious wars. You can see these fascinating rocks as you drive past on the opposite side of the Vézère.There is more information here:

Great steep wall with old caves, you can visit and walk along the rock. Great view from there over the Vézère valley.

Really incredibly impressive place - 50,000 years of human history on a rock face. Europe's largest settlement of this kind and also almost unique in the world - UNESCO World Heritage Site. Not to be missed! Ideal in the off-season when only a few people are out and about here.
