The "IJzerenweg" is the name of a cycle path that connects Tienen, Zoutleeuw and Diest. the name refers to the railway bed on which the path was laid. This bed was part of the Tienen-Diest-Mol railway, which was commissioned in 1878. In Drieslinter there was a branch to Sint-Truiden. This was extended in 1879 to Tongeren. In 1957, passenger traffic was stopped and replaced by bus transport. In 1966 the last freight train ran between Halen and Drieslinter. The tracks were broken and the cycle path was laid on the bed in 1993 - 1994.
