In this place were built in the 19th century some "glaciers" or "jazère" which were used for the production and conservation of ice, taking advantage of the fact that in this place the temperatures are much lower than in the surrounding areas. The ice was then sold in the city of Trieste for the storage of food and goods transported on ships.
One of these has recently been restored.
