First mentioned in this place was a blue paint factory, which was in operation from 1756 to 1849. Cobalt oxide was produced from cobalt ore. With the addition of quartz sand and potash blue glass was made. This was again finely ground to produce a blue color for painting porcelain.

In 1905, the Waldmühle, a popular tourist restaurant, was built here and since 1955, Caritas has been running a mother and child recreation center here.
