This is one of four birdwatching huts (in German: Hides), which are freely accessible year-round. Two of the huts are located here on the Lüttmoordamm, a third is overlooking the saltwater lagoon in the nature adventure area at the Arlauschleuse. There is also the fourth and newest hut, from which a small lake can be seen.

The Beltringharder Koog was created by dyking part of the Wadden Sea, the Nordstrand Bay, in the 1980s. In the meantime, one of the largest lakes in Schleswig-Holstein can be found in the natural paradise on the North Sea, and a unique animal and plant world has developed in the saltwater and freshwater areas.
