The jungle so typical of Tenerife begins just a few steps off the road. This jungle is home to an extensive botanical diversity with some of the most representative species in the entire archipelago. In the Anaga Mountains, the mountain slopes are covered with primeval cloud forest in which clouds often catch. This leads to the myriad of fine water droplets in the air. In the Erika-Laurel primeval forest, the trees are lushly overgrown with mosses and lichens and there is also a varied undergrowth on the slopes of the mountains.
