Wonderful corner at the gates of Cologne / Bonn. Particularly easy to drive on with children, especially when it is dry. I can only recommend a detour to the adjoining café in Gut Leidenhausen (ice cream, cake, drinks).

From 1953 to 2004 the Belgian armed forces used the heather for training purposes. From 2004, the Wahner Heide will be accessible again every weekday, albeit exclusively on the marked network of trails. Sometimes there are also restricted areas, as the heath area is still often contaminated with ammunition due to its previous military use.
