Hiking Highlight
The 5000 hectare Wahner Heide is considered the most species-rich nature reserve in the whole of North Rhine-Westphalia. From Rösrath via Lohmar to Troisdorf it borders directly on the Cologne-Bonn airport and was previously used for a long time as a military training area, airfield and prisoner of war camp. You can hardly notice that today, so nature has completely recaptured the area. Today, more than 100 breeding bird species, more than 2,500 species of beetles and more than 700 Red List animals, nature conservation and volunteer work are living in this natural paradise. This also benefits us humans: smaller hiking and biking trails make the extensive terrain an experience.MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE HEAD HEIDE:
