The Teichlboden is the highest raised bog in the northern Limestone Alps. It was created as the remainder of the glacier that existed 10,000 to 7,000 years ago. Over the millennia clay and later lime sludge have settled in this meltwater lake, causing the lake to silt up. In the subsequent cooler climate, the current raised bog was then able to develop from the silting moor. Find out more on the theme trail "2 Million Years in 2 Hours".
