Asbeck pen

The aristocratic women's monastery in Asbeck was founded in the 12th century and closed again in 1805. The Romanesque church of St. Margaret, the abbess's house, the dormitory, the gatehouse and a mill have been preserved. The two-story arcade gallery, on the other hand, has had a memorable journey: It was used in Münster in 1867 for the construction of the diocesan museum, which was demolished about a hundred years later. Part of the cloister was then rebuilt in Asbeck in 2004.

Today the dormitory, the cloister gallery and the gatehouse of the monastery are part of the museum landscape in Asbeck.

Asbeck: historical well-preserved town center. Small village with many sights. From the mill, the women's monastery, the church and other beautiful restored houses ... I'll visit Asbeck again because it's always worth it 🤗👍🏻
