Originally, the inhabitants of Lild Strand lived mainly from fishing. Since the place never had a port due to the flat sandy beach, the fishing boats were pulled onto the beach with ropes. However, this procedure was discontinued, so that the fishermen are now mostly pulling smaller fishing boats with tractors into the sea. The winch method is only used in Torup Strand, 15 km to the east, and Vorupør, 50 km to the west.
