An approximately 20-meter-long and well 1 m wide stone mole connects the main island Vega with the elongated small Lamøya. The mole was the lifeline that connected the former settlers on Lamøya with Nes and thus with the outside world. The children had to take the school bus, the adults had to go shopping.
