Oshawa Creek is a 50-kilometer long waterway that originates in the Oak Ridges Moraine and flows into Lake Ontario at Oshawa. The creek is famous for seasonal trout and salmon in the spring and fall.
The Joseph Kolodzie Oshawa Creek Bike Path runs approximately 7 kilometers grade-separated from Lakeview Park north to Adelaide Avenue, connecting several local green spaces including Southmead Park, Storie Park, Brick by Brick Park, and the Oshawa Valley Botanical Garden.
The name "Oshawa" comes from an Ojibwe word meaning a crossing place where canoes met portages.
