At 3,174 metres, Observation Peak is a superb vantage point over this part of the Canadian Rockies. From the upper ridge and summit, Peyto Lake stands out far below, with Bow Lake, surrounding glaciers and rows of peaks stretching along the Icefields Parkway. The mountain was named in 1898 after Charles Noyes climbed it to get his bearings and found the view especially useful for understanding the surrounding valleys.
