Haijima Daishi, which is widely known as a temple for warding off misfortune, is a historic temple that attracts some of the largest numbers of New Year's visitors in the Kanto region. The temple grounds include a wooden five-story pagoda, which was the first wooden five-story pagoda to be built in the Tama area in 1,200 years since the Tenpyō-era Musashi Kokubun-ji. The principal image enshrined here is Gansan Daishi, the restorer of Mount Hiei, who is venerated as the main deity.
