The Parkwood Estate, with a complex of buildings and landscaped grounds, dates from 1915-1940 and was the private estate of the founder of General Motors Canada, R. S. McLaughlin.
The Parkwood Estate is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved examples of Canadian architecture and landscape design. In 1989, the Estate was declared a National Historic Site.
