Schloss Mochental is a Renaissance-style castle near the district town of Ehingen in southeastern Baden-Württemberg.

The castle is located above the Danube in the Kirchener valley about eight kilometers west of Ehingen on the southern edge of the Swabian Alb. The three-winged castle is attached directly below an agricultural estate, which together with the castle forms an almost closed quarter. In the year 1000, the Counts of Mochental built Mochental Castle and a chapel. This was in 1049 by Pope Leo IX. dedicated to Saint Nicholas. In 1192 Count Ulrich I von Berg donated the castle and chapel to Zwiefalten Abbey. Mochental became its provost.

From the middle of the 16th century to the middle of the 17th century, the provost and the chapel of St. Nicholas were renovated and enlarged several times in place of the ruin. In 1730, the main building of the provost was destroyed in a fire. In the following three years, the brothers Joseph and Martin Schneider under Abbot Augustin built the castle with its 365 windows in its present form.

Castle with history. Interesting, changing art exhibitions. Refreshments in the castle courtyard.
