In 1825, the old half-timbered house on Poststraße was inaugurated.
Soltau had about 1000 inhabitants at that time (today approx. 22,000 inhabitants).
There was a pub on the ground floor.
In 1851, the district court with prison moved into the town hall. One of the first full-time mayors was the well-known heath poet Friedrich Freudenthal. Above the window in the small gable of the town hall is the old town coat of arms from 1388.
In 1981, the new town hall was inaugurated.
