'De Boezemriend', which is a beautiful name for a windmill, is the only eight-sided polder mill in the province of Drenthe. The mill (from 1871) is still working and is served by volunteers.

Ff take a connecting road to get from Meerwijck (hoogezand) to Zuid-Laren. You can drive towards the lake along all kinds of paths. But for the racers among us, go straight to Vries or via central and North Laren towards Paterswolde :-)
