Today you can only guess what happened here a hundred years ago, what remains is a wonderful view of the large Belchen.

Outpost on the western shoulder of the HWK. Certainly, this position was important both as an observation post, as well as for the supply. One part seems to be strongly reconstructed because the wooden parts were obviously renewed. Directly behind this point, in the transition to today blocked and completely confusing network of trenches, was a MG position. How often this position changed sides during the various offensives is not apparent.

What we find today was exposed in 1970 by the French association "Les Amis du Hartmannswillerkopf" under the direction of Mr. Paul Boch. The position was first developed by the German forces in early 1915 and captured by the French in mid-1915. The French developed it into the position we see today. German forces attempted to take it back throughout the war.
