Hiking
One of my absolute insider tips off the tourist routes.
From the Eckertalsperre, the pioneer path leads around the reservoir, the Ecker upstream.
An enchanted, wild path leads through dense forest, moor and cliffs along the water.
At the Ecker crossing you can easily cross the creek over the smooth washed rocks.
The path continues uphill to a small mount Plateu below the Brocken peak.
Here picnic tables and shelter invite you to take a break, while the Brockenbahn puffs up the mountain in a puffing distance.
From here you have to decide only whether summit storm or downhill.
