Like the bird sanctuary itself, the historic village is called Nyord. Time seems to be standing still here.
Many visitors come in the summer on the tiny island of Nyord, which is located on the Boegestroem in the coastal tangle between the Danish islands Mon and Zealand.
Until 1968, when a dam with a small bridge between Ulvshale was built on Møn, Nyord was only accessible by ferry.
Now you can drive on the island well by car, but on the edge of the village Nyord the vehicles have to stop, it is car-free!
Nyord is only about 3.8 kilometers long and about 2.3 kilometers wide. Overall, the island has an area of almost five square kilometers, which is mainly covered to the east by salt marshes and marshes.

Place with a typical village character. Has kept much of its old charm as it could only be reached by mail for a long time. The bridge that connects the town with the island of Møn has only been around since the late 1960s.

Tourists have to park their cars (luckily!) At the entrance to the town in a parking lot so that exploring the town is largely car-free.
Important: Nyord is NOT a museum village! Please respect the privacy of the residents!
