at the Rötwasserfall, Ahrn would mean something like a water hole, ÜberThe name of the river Ahr is probably of prehistoric origin. "Aar" means water in Indo-European, meaning alluvial valley. Prettau has the highest rainfall in South Tyrol, glaciers and firn fields also border the end of the Ahr valley.
