The place where the charcoal is used is freely accessible even when the kiln is not active. There is a wooden hut, an adjoining snack bar with a covered patio and several places to sit under the trees. Mr. Waldinger clearly explains the operation of a charcoal kiln in front of a stationary display board and answers in detail all questions that arise on the subject and about himself. In addition, Marcus Waldinger offers interested people the opportunity to experience the operation of a kiln from construction to harvest, i.e. living with the kiln for four to five days, day and night.
Marcus Waldinger operates his kiln in the forest near the Neresheimer Zwing on a few days a year, coordinated with the days of the Härtsfeld Museum Railway. The kiln can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes from the Steinmühle stop or in just under 40 minutes from the Sägmühle train station.
