The building dates from 1905 and was built as a gasworks. Here, acetylene was produced as a light gas, which was used for the illumination of neighboring buildings. Acetylene is formed by the decomposition of calcium carbide by means of water, hence the rippling brook directly at the house. Because the demand for acetylene was getting smaller and smaller as a result of the progressing electrification and the production was not harmless, the gasworks were shut down and then more and more a ruin. In 2004, a private investor bought it and restored the whole building. Today you can rent it as a large holiday home, with a floor space of 173 m² and four bedrooms can easily accommodate ten people.
