The history of the forest's origin on the Schwarzen Berg, near the Elbeklinikum Stade. The entire area has been a local recreation area for the people of Stade since the 19th century.
Many probably no longer know that the first Bismarck Tower in Lower Saxony once stood here. And it towered over the town of Stade. This tower was 22.5 m high, and the foundation stone was laid in 1895. The tower was blown up on April 2, 1962.
The oldest trees on the Schwarzen Berg are about 170 years old.
