In the GDR, Cumlosen was the border crossing point (GÜSt) for shipping traffic between the GDR and the Federal Republic. The former customs port including the border tower now belongs to the Cumlosen boat club. The Wittenberge local branch of the Technical Relief Organization (THW) is located in the remaining buildings.
