The Baptist revival reached Medelpad in the mid-19th century. In 1856, Stöde Baptist Church was founded in connection with a visit by CM Möllersvärd. The church was started by NP Åsén, Anna Märta Carlsson and Matts Carlsson. Stöde was visited by the evangelist and fisherman Johan Hällman from Hälsingland as early as 1816. Then Anders Pålsson and others were saved at a meeting in Gransjön. But it took a long time before they received instruction and formed a church. In the meantime, many ended up in legalism or abandoned the faith and returned to their old lives.
