In order to rebuild the Ems canal bridge with the dimensions of the already extended canal section at the same point, it was imperative to enable shipping to bypass the canal bridge during construction.
The Datteln waterway new building authority is building this bypass route together with the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kanalbrücke Ems, consisting of the companies Köster, Gollwitzer, Meyer and SEH.
