At just over 27 hectares, Burleigh Head National Park is a rare pocket of rainforest right in the middle of the Gold Coast, with walking tracks that climb a volcanic headland and open up to sweeping ocean views over the Pacific Ocean. The Oceanview and Rainforest circuits take you past pandanus groves and basalt boulders to Tumgun Lookout, an excellent spot for spotting humpback whales in winter and spring. Along the way, you’ll share the path with sea-eagles, brush turkeys, and the sound of waves breaking against one of the last natural headlands in the city.
