Perhaps the best medieval castle in the whole region! It is not very big, but nestled in the valley which offers superb views. Do not hesitate to climb the streets of the city!

The largest medieval fortress in Brittany. The plant had the purpose to fend off attacks from the direction of Normandy. Very interesting.

Magnificent castle in a good state of preservation. A visit is essential. The guide is a plus at no extra cost.👍

We were referred to Fugères by our campsite neighbor. The drive to Fugères was definitely worth it. Because of gardening work on the walls overgrown with grass and flowers and renovation work, not all areas could be visited that day. Anyway, we'd love to come back to Fugères and see this wonderful castle.

Château de Fougères is free, but worth it. Audio guide available in different languages. Beautiful views of Upper and Lower Town.

The castle of Fougères is one of the largest fortresses in Europe. It is well protected on a rocky outcrop surrounded by marshland. The castle complex dates from the 12th to 15th centuries and covers an area of two hectares. It was thus a strategic defense site for the Duchy of Brittany against Normandy, Anjou and Maine.

The Château de Fougères is one of the largest and most impressive medieval fortresses in Europe and a landmark of Brittany. Perched on a rock surrounded by the Nançon River, it boasts 13 towers, including the Mélusine Tower and the Raoul Tower. The castle's origins date back to the year 1000; over the centuries, it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, serving as a fortress, residence, and prison.
