With its 520 meters in length, the Reolid tunnel is the longest on the Renaissance Greenway between Jaén and Albacete. It was excavated for the Baeza–Utiel railway, a line whose construction began in 1927 but never entered service. After decades of neglect, the tunnel was rehabilitated for hikers and cycle tourists and has automatic lighting, although it is recommended to bring your own light. Upon passing through it, you leave behind the town of Reolid, hidden on the hillside, reliving a railway project that never saw a train run.

On this occasion, the lights were turned on by a presence sensor, but it is always advisable to carry an additional light as, being located on a curve, the exit is not visible and in case the lighting failed, it would be complicated to cross it.

Did you know that...? When leaving the tunnel in the direction of Jaén, the route soon crosses an elegant three-arched bridge over the Salobre river. This combination of tunnel and bridge is one of the most representative engineering works of the entire old Baeza–Utiel railway line.
