Memorial Chapel – Cappella della Memoria
After the devastating earthquake of April 6, 2009, during which the church dome collapsed live on television, a simple but impressive Cappella della Memoria (Memorial Chapel) was set up in the restored church. In this serene space, there are two large marble memorial plaques engraved with the names of all 309 victims. In addition, there are photo albums with portraits and personal stories, so that the victims are remembered not only by name, but also as individuals.
