The bridge was built in 1905 by the Beuchelt company from Zielona Góra. At both ends of the bridge, two sets of brick watchtowers - blockhouses in the form of neo-Gothic towers - were placed on pillars. The two-story watchtower buildings, located on both sides of the track, were connected by 12-meter posterns and had their own water intakes (wells). On February 3, 1945, the middle span of the bridge was blown up by retreating German troops. After the war, the bridge was rebuilt in 1955. The above-ground part of the watchtowers on the eastern side of the bridge was demolished.
The bridge operated until the mid-1990s. The railway connection between Wolsztyn and Nowa Sol was broken during the flood in 1997 as a result of water destroying the tracks near the village of Bobrowniki.
For years, efforts have been made to use the bridge for tourist purposes.
At the end of 2019 (expected completion of works) it will serve as a part of a bicycle trail. Cyclists will follow the closed railway line No. 371 Wolsztyn - Żagań,
October 2019 - already put into operation :-)).

A monument in a new incarnation. In the middle there is a path, on the sides of the place where you can stop and admire the view of the Oder. At the entrance from the United States, there is a stopping point with a shelter and a self-service service point.
