Pigeon's Wood lies to the north of the lake in the Castlemartyr Estate, effectively on an island from the River Keltie that feeds the lake. It's an area of old forest, part of the original castle’s estate. The 1 km (0.6 mile) walking trail around the wood can be accessed from the Cork Road or the castle.
