In the north of Düsseldorf lies Kaiserswerth, one of the most beautiful and richest districts of the Rhine metropolis. Here you can take a relaxed stroll, enjoy the culinary delicacies of the Rhenish cuisine and, above all, the historical ambience. Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa had a mighty fortress built here. The remains of the imperial palace can still be viewed today.

From Benrath to Kaiserswerth is a consistently good bike path available.

Düsseldorf's oldest district on the former Kaiserinsel in the Rhine. Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa had a customs fortress built here to demand money or goods from the boatmen.
Unfortunately, only the remains of the proud castle can be seen.

Kaiserswerth has a beautiful preserved historic core, which invites you to stroll. Good gastronomy and a jetty round off a day out.

Nice track, but too crowded on weekends. I prefer to drive there early in the morning or during the week.
