Market rights were granted in 1382 by Prince-Bishop Lamprecht von Brunn. Originally, 8 fairs were held to provide supplies for the residents and surrounding farmers. From 1568 (Prince-Bishop Veit II of Würtzburg) there was also a weekly market every Saturday. Today, a farmers' market takes place on the market square every Saturday and Wednesday and the carnival market, the Easter market, the Nativity of Mary market and the Christmas market take place once a year.
